Cindy Osorio was born and raised in New York City by parents of Puerto Rican descent. As a child Cindy was always surrounded by music since the day she was born. The sounds of La Lupe, Hector La Voe, Tito Puente, and many others filled the air of her home. As a native New Yorker, who predominantly spoke English Cindy voluntarily favored an eclectic array of American Music.
Cindy was enrolled in jazz and voice lessons at the tender age of 6. She would dance and sing at local school recitals, shows, and exhibitions. Cindy continued to pursue both voice and dance studies until the age of 19. As a child Cindy already knew what she wanted to do. She exclaimed “I want to work in the theatre, either as a singer or dancer.” Now in her early 30’s Cindy is living her dream and has a lot of years yet to come.
Dancing was always close to her heart and she could not forget the freedom she felt expressing herself to music. Cindy enthusiastically began adding partner dancing to her repertoire. Cindy fell in love with Salsa/Mambo Dancing. She has studied and been involved in learning the technique since the Winter of 1997. Cindy’s mentors are World Renowned Pioneers of Nightclub Style Salsa/Mambo “On2” Eddie and Maria Torres. Their passion and dedication to the art of dance is a connection that has kept Cindy wanting to learn more.
An accomplished follower and leader Cindy has spent years polishing her skills. With encouragement from her Mentor Maria Torres, Cindy has been teaching since 2000. Cindy’s diverse skills and very exuberant teaching style is made for fun, and there is a strong demand for classes. Her strengths lie in conveying both the technique, and the passion for Salsa.
Beyond her roles as a teacher, Cindy formerly performed with one of New York’s Finest Salsa/Mambo Female Dance Troupe called the “Mambo Mamas” from 1999 - 2000. Cindy created, choreographed, performed, and directed the “CinSational Dancers” from 2001 - 2003.
Cindy has vast experience which includes television appearances, special gala events, outdoor festivals, dance competitions and stage productions. Her most recent work involves choreography and coaching for local dance teams or troupes.
Cindy continues to broaden and deepen her dance capabilities. Cindy is well versed in several forms of other dance techniques including New York Style Mambo/Salsa "On2", Bachata, Merengue, Cha-Cha & Ballroom/Wedding Dances in American Tango, Rhumba, Swing-Jitterbug, Slow Dance & Waltz making her a versatile dance instructor. Her smooth style, clear instructional demonstrations and elegant turn patterns attract many students to her weekly classes. Cindy continues to take a hiatus in performing to concentrate and spread her love for the dance to as many people as possible by continuing too teach, coach, choreograph and coordinate all types of special events nationally and abroad. |
